The network FertiPROTEKT was established in 2006 to combine the expertise of university clinics in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and to create a nationwide network which offers effective and low risk fertility preservation for everybody. To achieve this goal, regular workshops, cryobanks for cryopreservation of ovarian tissue and registers documenting the counselling activities and complications and several other activities have been initiated and established. The more than 3,000 cases of patient counselling, 1,000 cryopreservations of ovarian tissue, 1,000,000 visits to the FertiPROTEKT -website and detailed recommendations about fertility preservation treatments confirm the success of the network. Nevertheless, the coming years will show whether these fertility protecting activities have led to high numbers of successful pregnancies.
