Seit der Jahrtausendwende ist der öffentliche Diskurs zur Sozialhilfe durch Misstrauen geprägt. Aufgrund von Administrativdaten kann nun nicht nur berechnet werden, dass ein Viertel der Bezugsberechtigten auf die Sozialhilfe verzichtet, sondern auch, dass dies mit gesellschaftlichen Wertvorstellungen zusammenhängt. Dies verschärft die Armutsproblematik in der Schweiz unnötig.
