Die detaillierte aber unvollständige Wiedergabe der Ereignisse ruft dem Leser die Passion schrittweise ins Gedächtnis und lässt ihn emotional daran teilhaben. Durch die Synchronisation der Ereignisse der Passion mit der Gegenwart des Rezipienten wird diese dem Leser gegenwärtig und der Moment der Andacht erhält heilsgeschichtliche Bedeutung.
