Due to the complexity of the concept social integration, no sufficiently differentiated analytical tool exists to measure it, especially among people in sports clubs with a

migration background. As a result, studies have produced an ambivalent picture of how well-integrated immigrant club members actually are. The aim of the present study is to develop a suitable analytical tool for measuring social integration in sports clubs.
For this study, immigrant members of Swiss sports clubs (n = 298) were interviewed using an analytical tool that bases on a concept using the four dimensions Placement, Identification, Interaction und Culturation (Esser, 2009). A confirmatory factor analysis produced satisfactory results (χ2/df = 2.19, RMSEA = .06, SRMR = .07, CFI = .92). Compared with the item means, the immigrant members studied displayed above-average scores for social integration.
On the one hand, it seems advisable to continue developing the analytical tool in order to increase the accuracy of its measurements. On the other hand, the existing analytical tool can conceivably be used to conduct bi- and multivariate analyses on the influence of individual features on the social integration in sports clubs.
