The aim of this working paper is to conduct a review about protection by origin in Chile and the European markets, specifically the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), focusing on its implications for the wine sector.In order to achieve this purpose, the following topics will be covered: (i) protection by origin for producers and consumers, (ii) regulation on protection by origin in Chile, EU and EFTA countries, (iii) the Chilean wine sector and (iv) the chapters on protection by origin in the Free Trade Agreement between Chile-EU and Chile-EFTA, with emphasis on wines.
