Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs) promise a wide scope of multimedia services ranging from surveillance and traffic announcements to entertainment and advertising videos. In addition to new services, VANETs will be autonomous and new advances in platoon-based driving are required. Platooning schemes will be used to improve the delivery of videos and increase the user experience. However, it is important to analyze the Quality of Experience (QoE) support of platoon-based schemes in sharing video flows. In this paper, we perform a comparative simulation study to assess the quality level of videos transmitted via well- known platoon-based driving protocols. Simulation results show the benefits of existing protocols in delivering videos with QoE in scenarios with different distances between the source and destination, as well as videos with different characteristics.
