While the political debate on how best to educate and train young people for working life is ongoing, the dual apprenticeship system is still the predominant form of initial vocational education and training (VET) in Switzerland. This book chapter aims to give an overview on the organisation of the Swiss VET system, highlighting its aims, main characteristics and contents, and discussing recent developments and future challenges.
