Resilience concepts highlight the question why some people remain mentally relatively healthy despite the most adverse psycho-social circumstances. This article provides a practical guide on how to integrate resilience as early as possible into the patient's information of the assessments of clinical questionnaires and how to integrate them into the individual case formulation without tabooing the problematic aspects. Four therapeutic strategies are introduced: (1) Validate problematic aspects, (2) isolation problematic aspects, (3) Validate individual resilience and resources, (4) break through black and white thinking.
