Full text not available from this repository.We present computer-aided methods for chrysophyte stomatocyst (cyst) analysis using scanning electron microscopy, image analysis, and a probabilistic counting approach. The development of an electronic photographic reference collection allowed a fast and detailed description of new or uncertain cyst types. Scripts for image analysis speeded up size measurements. A probabilistic counting approach for faster cyst analysis maintained taxonomic precision. Quality control assessed the reliability of our results.
