In this presentation I gave an overview of how eunuchs were represented in pre-modern Islamic sources, in particular from a gender perspective. I looked at a number of different discourses, and namely medical, literary and legal sources, and then I focused on specific eunuchs that were relevant during the Fatimid empire.
