Ethnomusicology Beyond Academia

Hagmann, Lea (27 October 2021). Ethnomusicology Beyond Academia (Unpublished). In: Conférence du Master en ethnomusicologie. Genève. 27. Oktober 2021.

Ever since Ethnomusicology evolved from Comparative Musicology and re-defined the discipline’s scope, focus and method, it has been closely linked to practical activities that take part outside academia. In this presentation, Dr Lea Hagmann will focus on some of the ethnomusicological projects she has been involved with over the last 3 years that clearly go beyond lecturing at the University of Bern and shall therefore encourage students to think beyond academia and to get ideas about how ethnomusicology today can be successfully integrated into the broader society across social and geographic boundaries.
