Web search engines play an important role in today's media environment. However, there many pending questions concerning the quality of information provided by them, in particular in the context of sensitive present and historical phenomena. In our study, we conduct the comparative algorithmic audit of six world's largest search engines to examine how their text search results represent information about three instances of mass atrocities: the Holocaust, the Holomodor, and the Armenian genocide. Using content analysis, we examine the type of sources to prioritized by individual search engines and the quality of information provided to compare performance of different search engines and detect whether it is subjected to systematic bias or non-systematic errors which can affect the way these events are remembered.
