In this paper I looked at discussions on intersexuality and Transgenderism that are taking place in contemporary Egypt. After a short terminological introduction, I focused on the most quoted fatwas on transgenderism and intersexuality in Egypt before coming to some recent cases on sex affirmation surgery and the issue of name and documents change once sex affirmation surgeries, namely all those procedures that help people transition to their self-identified gender, has taken place.
