Queerness and Middle Eastern Studies: Why Does that Matter?

In this lecture I gave an overview on research on LGBTQI+ studies within the field of Middle Eastern Studies between the 90s and nowadays. I then discussed what queerness in the Middle East may mean and this topic has to be approached looking at history, activism and social change in the region.
