The Old Cemetery as a Place of Remembrance of European Cultural History and Old Catholic Church History. Guided Tour, Alter Friedhof, Bonn

Berlis, Angela (2 September 2022). The Old Cemetery as a Place of Remembrance of European Cultural History and Old Catholic Church History. Guided Tour, Alter Friedhof, Bonn (Unpublished). In: 33. Internationaler Alt-Katholikenkongress. Bonn, Deutschland. 1.-4. September 2022.

The Old Cemetery in Bonn is a gem of European cultural history, located today in the centre of the city. There is probably no other cemetery where so many personalities are buried who were of such decisive importance for the history of the Old Catholic movement and churches: as pioneers, such as the theologian Georg Hermes, who was condemned by Rome; as Old Catholics of the first hour, such as Johann Baptista Baltzer or Wilhelmine Ritter; or as leaders in the establishment of church structures, such as the first German bishop Joseph Hubert Reinkens or the founder of the Old Catholic Sisterhood Josefine vom Rath-Bouvier. In addition to those who are still known today, many lesser-known Old Catholics are also buried here.
