In this presentation I introduced the concept behind the project "TraSIS: Trajectories of Slavery in Islamicate Societies. Three Concepts from Islamic Legal Sources", the methodological and theoretical approach connecting the different sub-projects and the three concepts the project focuses on (umm al-walad, kitaba and Kafala).
