Switzerland’s National Open Access Strategy aims to have all tax-payer funded research publications available in open access by 2024. This article introduces the institutional landscape in which this transformation is taking place, focuses on two examples of current concerns that these changes bring and closes with a brief look at what lies beyond the approaching milestone.
