Digitalisation and Open Science brought fundamental changes to the academic publishing process, many of them good, some of them problematic. Researchers often find themselves between pressures to publish in prestigious venues and fulfilling obligations and expectations of their funders, institutions and communities. This talk adresses some of the current pitfalls and drawbacks to watch out for when publishing scholarly manuscripts.
