Laffranchi, Zita; Milella, Marco (11 December 2023). Moving in the Late Iron Age: the CELTUDALPS project (Unpublished). In: Forschungskolloquium zur Prähistorischen Archäologie HS 2023. Universität Bern – Institut für Archäologische Wissenschaften Prähistorische Archäologie (Ur- und Frühgeschichte). 11.12.2023.

The CELTUDALPS project investigates human groups during
the European Late Iron Age, focusing on «Celtic» groups in
Northern Italy and Switzerland. Within the limited data in
this region so far, the project examines 300 individuals from
La Tène cultural groups (4th–1st centuries BCE). Employing
methods like quantitative, ancient DNA and isotopic analysis,
CELTUDALPS aims to: (a) assess territorial mobility differences;
(b) reconstruct genetic history; (c) explore mobility’s link to
kinship and social organization. In this talk we discuss the
theoretical framework and key findings from this research.
