Full text not available from this repository.Little is known about the Swiss Old Catholic Aline Ducommun-Merz (1867–1921), although she held important positions in two church institutions that were founded in 1914 and 1916 respectively. She was involved in the conceptualization of the Christkatholisches Kinderfürsorgeamt, the Old Catholic Child Welfare Office in Switzerland, and, from 1916, held an executive function as its administrator. In 1916, she was a co-founder of the Verband Christkatholischer Frauenvereine, the association of Old Catholic Women’s Organisations in Switzerland, which she presided over until 1920. In 1917, she was the first woman to speak at the National Synod. She repeatedly raised the issue of women’s rights in the church. The article combines a biographical sketch of the person with the history of the institutions in which she was involved.
