The EU project CRAFT-OA will improve the technical and organizational infrastructure for Diamond Open Access publishing. This entails improving the software for publishing Diamond journals and supporting communities of practice in order to meet valid standards. Furthermore, the project increases the recognition, visibility and findability of Diamond OA publications and links Diamond publishing to the EOSC and other large data aggregators.
The contribution of Bern University Library, which is one of 23 institutions from 14 European countries working on CRAFT-OA, consists of a Constructive Technology Assessment for the project and interviews to identify the needs and problems of those for whom the new structures are being built: journal editors and platform providers.
In May and June 2023, the Open Science Team at Bern University Library conducted a total of eleven semi-structured interviews with five editors and six platform providers from western, south-eastern, northern and central Europe.
