Heidegger reception in Iran is a vital phenomenon of 20th century Iranian intellectual history with far reaching repercussions at the intellectual as well as sociocultural level. This paper traces the reception history of Heidegger's philosophy in Iranian intellectual circles, highlighting the reasons for the appeal this particular thinker obviously enjoys in Iranian intellectual discourse before and after the 1979 revolution.
