A method for the measurement of adenosine 5'-phosphosulfate sulfotransferase is described with which a determination can be performed in about 2 min. This method was used for examining the increase in adenosine 5' -phosphosulfate sulfotransferase activity of Lemna minor which was observed when these organisms were cultivated with NH~ and NO3 instead of NO3 as a nitrogen source. 15N-density Iabelling and subsequent density gradient centrifugation showed that this increase is at least initially due to an increased de novo-synthesis.
