In this article, the FAIR-data criteria for digital publications is being tested on the hallerNet journal and research platform – alongside a number of other platforms concerned with eighteenth century research. The FAIR approach will prove beneficial beyond simple data management as its fundamental goals can be pursued across other digital research platforms. Given the long history of database-led research, hallerNet also lends itself to wider reflections on the sustainability of digital research data.
