Two studies (N = 609) assessed women's and men's use of agentic and communal expressions in self-presentations for a leadership position. The results revealed that women used more agentic expressions than men when they presented themselves for a masculine, but not for a feminine-framed role, whereas men did not differ in their use of agentic expressions across the two experimental conditions.
