With the fast growth of the Internet of Things and recent improvements in interoperability, exchanging data between different organizations’ infrastructures has become crucial. When algorithms consume data produced by other organizations’ infrastructure, validating the authenticity, integrity, and quality of the data becomes challenging. The measurement data quality depends on the sensor’s accuracy, typically certified by calibration certificates. However, today most calibration certificates are not available in a machine-readable format and are rarely accessible to all entities that consume the calibrated measurement instrument’s data. In this work, we propose a DLT-based Distributed Calibration Certificate Infrastructure to manage calibration certificates. The proposed solution makes calibration certificates accessible and enables metrological traceability. Furthermore, the proposed solution comprises a Distributed Public Key Infrastructure for metrology that asserts the authenticity and integrity of signatures on digital calibration certificates and measurement data.
