Aim: The purpose of this study was to find empirically based re-HBV/HCV-prevention in the sexual risk behaviour of drug consuming women.
Method: Appraisals of 146 women concerning HBV/HCV and HIV were compared and their relationship to sexual risk behaviour was analysed.
Results: An infection with HBV/HCV is considered as less serious. Motivation for protective behaviour and knowledge was smaller for HBV/HCV. Concerning HBV/HCV self-efficacy, protection motivation and knowledge showed significant relationships to sexual risk behaviour.
Conclusions: Important targets for HIV- and HBV/HCV-prevention are self-efficacy in sexual risk situations and protection motivation. Knowledge about HBV/HCV and perception as a serious problem should be improved.
