Die Prosopographie der Servilii wirft komplizierte, zuletzt von E. Badian und G. Alföldy erörterte Problemstellungen auf. Anhand der Identifizierung des Münzmeisters C. Servilius M.f. wird in diesem Beitrag nachgewiesen, dass die Servilii Vatiae sich zwischen dem 2. und 1. Jh. v.Chr. des Cognomens Vatia nicht bedienten, zumindest nicht in systematischer Weise und zu Selbstdarstellungszwecken. Folglich werden methodisch-prosopographische Fragen zur Deszendenz der Servilii Gemini erneut analysiert.
