The authors discuss possibilities of integrating dance and movement therapy with psychotherapy. In light of present developments of psychology and psychotherapy research, especially research on embodied cognition and on the change mechanisms of psychotherapy, several avenues of such integration are opened up. Dance and movement are found to address common factors of psychotherapy and to satisfy claims of the embodiment perspective. A practice report on integrative therapy using the Zurich Ressource Model ZRM supports the feasibility and potential of psychotherapy augmented by dance and body movement.
