Agrippine, la mère de l’empereur Néron, Messaline, la femme de Claude, étaient-elles ces créatures dépravées, avides de pouvoir, si complaisamment décrites par les historiens latins ? Cette interprétation négative a prévalu jusqu’à nos jours. Elle ne repose pourtant sur aucun fait précis.
