The essay retraces the development of Primo Levi’s last book, The Drowned and the Saved (1986), discussing the impact of 1960s correspondence between Levi and his German readers and their literary transfiguration during the Seventies. The study aims to underline the critical and interpretive
consequences of this historical and genetic approach.
