The phenomenon of impersonal verbs in Indo-European languages, particularly in Latin, is a much discussed issue. Nevertheless, the existence and use of impersonal verbs in the Latin of the Vulgate has never been investigated from a comparative point of view. The main aim of this article is to discuss the use of impersonal verbs in ancient Indo-European languages and Biblical Hebrew on the one hand, while on the other hand this article examines the translation of the impersonal verbs of Biblical Hebrew to the Latin of
the Vulgate and its underlying principles.
