Buch released numerous reports out of crisis areas in the 90s, including Rwanda, Burundi and Zaire, where the Rwandan genocide claimed around 800’000 lives. These texts were later altered and recycled by the author in his books. This resulted in strings of text that depict the same events from a journalistic viewpoint and later in travel literature, poetological essays and even novels. Among Buch’s episodes, his testimony of a massacre committed in a refugee camp is striking. This paper examines the literary processing of this trauma in a string of texts dating from 1995 to 2011.
