The educational decision at the end of compulsory schooling will be analysed for juveniles in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. For revealing the social selectivity of the individuals’ decision the theory of subjectively expected utility has been tested directly by panel data and an innovative specification of the decision process after control of achievement. The social selective transition has been mainly explained by the achievement and educational decision varying across the social classes.
