This having said, there is a remarkable degree of parallelism between the free trade strategies of the EU–Switzerland’s main trading partner – and the pertinent Swiss approach. While the gravitational pull of the world’s biggest Trader may play a role, it would appear that parallelism of interests and basic values of these two European actors is the more appropriate explanation for this phenomenon.
