(Request a copy)English Abstract: Continuing education for senior civil servants, an instrument for reforming the French government (1947-1974) Following World War II, a handful of reform-minded senior civil servants founded the Institut Technique des Administrations Publiques (Public Administration Technical Institute). By developing an original repertoire of reform – continuing education for high-ranking civil servants – this private organization devoted itself to spreading new methods for the rationalization of work in the French governmental bureaucracy. The history of the institute finally makes it possible to readily perceive the appropriation, with productivist intentions, of the permanent training of civil servants more than a decade before its formalization by public authorities.
