The author provides an insight into the significance of emotions to school learning and contributes to the discussion on the importance of how emotions are dealt with in school. First, the fundamental principles of the effect of emotions within the school context are explained and illustrated by drawing on error situations. The second part deals with the regulation of emotions in order to provide a theoretical and empirical approach to answering the following question: How do students deal with negative emotions regarding learning and achievement?
