Full text not available from this repository. (Request a copy)ChorOnline is a transnational singing project that fosters applied ethnomusicology in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is a virtual platform that enables traditional singers of various cultures to teach their traditional songs online to a transnational choir via the video conference tool zoom.
As the project ChorOnline is entirely based on participants’ donations as well as third-party funding, this means that people from various countries are able to take part in the sessions, independently of their economic situations. At the same time, our partners, the workshop leaders, learn how to use videoconference tools as an alternative for teaching, while at the same time having the opportunity to make an income. This proved especially important for musicians living in countries that do not offer any financial support for artists during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The subproject CaféOnline is an additional offer from ChorOnline. This event offers traditional musicians from various cultures the opportunity to share their knowledge about the musical treasures of their countries in an attractive and interactive presentational format. The main focus of CaféOnline is put on the cultural and social contexts in which music and singing take place, and it thus fosters intercultural understanding.
ConcertOnline is the streaming offer of ChorOnline. Here professional musicians and lovers of traditional music perform live for us, directly from their homes.
All offers use applied ethnomusicology as their theoretical framework.
